UP-DFA creates possiblity to set universal evidence based FGTP/DSD protocol. 
It enables control/measurement of smile line/occlusion thanks to:

  • Universal 3D markers attached to 3D adapters to customised upper/lower paraocclusal trays and smile line index plate

  • Values of surge, sway, heave and pitch, roll, yaw. In particular the final pre-planned treatment position in orthodontics similar to digital workflow in orthognatic surgery can be measured as change from initial position (0 deg, 0 mm)

  • Dynamic recording of the envelope of funtion

The Angle’a line of occlusion (now commonly described as occlusion) and the esthetic line of occlusion (now commonly described as smile line or occlusal plane of the upper teeth) should be measured with translational and rotational envelopes based on surge, sway, heave and pitch.roll, yaw values.

The space between the Angle’a line of occlusion and the esthetic line of occlusion is called envelope of function and should be subject for futher dynamic recording of upper/lower teeth relationships.
